Set thousands of years after the events of NieR, the story revolves around the war between the remaining androids of humanity and an invading machine army from another world. Their initial dissatisfaction caused the Earth';;s population to flee to the moon. To reclaim the planet, humans established "YoRHa," a combat droid unit that will fight in a proxy conflict. Although they are devoid of emotions and have no real names, they can be identified by their distinct attitudes. The androids are led by the "Bunker," the YoRHa automatic infantry unit';;s headquarters in orbit above the planet, establishing a resistance force on Earth to push back the machines.
